Vanderbilt Cup Racer |
POA | |||||||
Since the beginning of the 1990s to 2007 this replica was built by an American - based on the original one. In 2007 it was sold to its current German owner. In 2008 the engine was replaced by J. R. Goold http://www.stanleysteamcarparts.co.uk/ Vintage Steam Restorations Ltd. Now it has a 30hp engine and the longer rear axle like the original car. For Safety reasons the brakes were converted into modern, especially manufactured disk brakes. In 2010 the car got a new boiler and the spokes were replaced by stronger ones. The tyres on the rear wheels were also renewed in 2010 (Dunlop). Hundreds of hours were spent by the well known german vintage car restoration companies “Van Beers” and “Veteranenhof” to get it well running. After the completion the car was used at several veteran car events with great success, for example at the “German Steam Car Tour” organized by the Automuseum Melle or the legendary “Oldtimer Grand Prix” on the Nürburgring. In its present, superb condition it did 127.6 km/h on the Nürburgring at 3/4 throttle!!! The car fascinates with its incredible acceleration and an extra ordinary sound!!! On the photos below you see the car in its present Concours condition. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4rDjTN2JMs Serious interest please contact me by mail!!

| 1903 Stanley Stick Seat Runabout | $80,000 OBO | |||||||
The 1903 is an excellent restoration of an original car, serial no. 513. The restoration included a new Bourdon boiler. It has the original bucket type water level indicator still in place and it works fine. There is a modern level gage also, mounted under the seat in front of the boiler.\ I know this car has not been on the London to Brighton, but Mike May, |

1903 Stanley Steamer Model C Runabout 6.5HP, 2-cylinder Steamengine, Chassis No. 307 In the early part of the 20th Century, steam powered cars were quite popular and in 1906, Fred W. Marriott, Stanley’s chief mechanic, piloted a steamer to the land speed record.Established in 1901, Stanley Steamers became the industry leader for this mode of transportation and every year saw more improvements. This vintage example was set up to handle four passengers, riding on the 28" x 3.00" tires. Front seat passengers had a unobstructed view of the road ahead and either person could steer the car through a centrally mounted tiller. With a leather front piece and fenders fashioned from wood, this little runabout could probably attain speeds in excess of 40 mph, but be wary of those ancient brakes. Wearing a smart wicker basket ready for a picnic and the vintage kerosene powered Neverout brass lamps, the perfect car for a spin. It should be noted that this car has been idle for many years and before steam operations should be completely checked out by an expert with these cars. Alternative fuel from nearly 110 years ago, this Stanley Steamer is a rare opportunity for the discerning collector.
