Click on any image to enlarge, and then move mouse over "next" or "prev" Kempton Park Engines are the biggest and most amazing steam engines you will find anywhere. The National Steam Car Assocaition Members were privilaged to be invited to a steaming weekend in June. The Kempton Park Engines seen today were installed in to a purpose built engine house in 1928. The new Triple House was completed and contained the largest reciprocating steam pumping engines in Britain. Manufactured by Worthington Simpson, each is 1008HP and their joint duty was 38 million gallons per day!!! The engines are 62ft high; the crankshaft weighs 30 tons and each 17ft flywheel is 32 tons. An amazing building housing even more amazing machines and an army of wonderful volenteers who's knowledge and tea and cake making ability should be sampled by all!
