From our Chairman

John Walton

John,  as we all know was a vital link with steam cars of yesteryear, and the fledgling movement of their appreciation possibly would not have started in the strength that it has become without him.  He published originally the “Steam Car Developments and Steam Marine Motors” magazine taking the editorship over from the Bolsovers in 1948, and continued thereafter to publish the” Light Steam Power magazine for many years”.

Anthony Bever

The sad death of our good friend Anthony Bever has just come to our notice.  Anthony had been poorly for some while, but put his usual brave face on things, and preferred to concentrate on matters of a steam subject.

A first class engineer and machinist he has been involved in manufacture of a fabulous recreation of a Serpollet steam car for some years , involving much research and use of some original patterns. His family owned a mine in Cumbria, the engines of which have been largely preserved, and Anthony partook of the opening ceremony of the museum. He was asked to take his carefully built 10hp Stanley as an added attraction to add to the general steam interest.

He was an original member of the NSCA, and his opinions and strongly held standards will be very much missed by all in our society, and all who knew him as a good friend.

Our condolences go to his family and especially to Jenny his partner.
